The San Gabriel Valley Foundation for Dental Health is a non-profit organization providing dental care and education to children who come from economically disadvantaged families. Founded in 1996, the Foundation opened its doors in 1997 and so far, has treated close to 6,000 children and recorded over 10,000 patient visits.

We have several volunteer dentists and dental hygienists who treat these children alongside our part-time staffed dentists. The clinic operates within the teaching facility of the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District's Adult School Dental Assisting Program. The clinic is open from 8 am to 12 pm, Wednesdays and Fridays and treats children from 2-14 years of age who have no dental insurance and are eligible for the Free Lunch Program at school. Parents pay $20 per visit regardless of the amount of care performed. On a typical day this year, dentists and dental assisting students will treat between 10 and 20 patients.

  • Furnish a learning environment that provides dental assisting students with the knowledge of how to operate and staff a multidisciplinary pediatric care facility
  • Provide a model program that can be used by other communities
